Theme: Light and Shadow
Explore the dynamic interplay of light and shadow in your compositions. This theme invites artists to use contrasts to create mood, depth, and narrative intensity. From the dramatic chiaroscuro of classical painting to subtle reflections or bold, stark contrasts, let your creativity shine through the manipulation of light and shadow.

Submission Period

January 1 – March 30, 2025

Eligibility

To participate, artists must:

• Be over 18 years of age.
• Be actively engaged in the art industry with a demonstrated consistent practice (portfolio, exhibitions, etc.).
• Submit only original works created within the last five (5) years.
• Ensure submissions align with the medium requirement (painting only).

Application Requirements

Artists must provide:

• Name
• Email
• Artist Bio (Max 500 words)
• Artworks ( max 10 pieces)
• Artwork Descriptions (brief overview of each submitted work)

Optional Information:

• Artist Website
• Social Media Handles
• Artist CV

All applications are to be submitted through the Submittable Platform.

Submission Fee

• $25 USD for up to 3 artworks.
• $10 USD for each additional artwork (up to 10 artworks maximum).

Winner Announcement

The Cycle 1 Winner will be announced on April 15, 2025.

Theme: Urban Life

Capture the rhythm, energy, and essence of urban settings. This theme invites photographers to explore cityscapes, street life, and the vibrant contrasts that define urban environments. From bustling streets to quiet corners, towering architecture to hidden details, showcase the pulse of urban life through your lens.

• Be actively engaged in the photography industry with a demonstrated consistent practice (portfolio, exhibitions, etc.).

The Boynes Monthly Art Award is a monthly art competition for artists worldwide. Every month 1 artist will win $250 USD cash, a published interview, a winner's certificate and a feature in our newsletter!

This theme allows complete creative freedom, inviting artists to submit work in any subject or style of their choice.

Artists are required to submit:

1. Name
2. Email
3. Artist Bio (Max 500 words)
4. Portfolio (Max 6 images/videos)

2. Art Social Media Handles

You can begin your application and return to it as you please, however it must be submitted by the posted deadline.

Please also note that you can request to edit a submission after you have submitted but before the final deadline.

Please note that entering the Monthly Art Award does not affect your application to the Boynes Artist Award in any way. This application is separate and also has no bearing on judging in the Boynes Artist Award.
